🌵Kudos to the state of Arizona for definitively answering the questions…

In the above revised guidelines, Arizona fills in a lot of gray area, and verifies that RN’s can give aesthetic injections like Botox and Dermal Fillers, and that APRN’s can supervise and delegate this to an RN when working under the APRN provided all other requirements for synchronous good faith exams are met.  These evaluation exams can be done via telemedicine but must be done in real time.

Arizona also clarifies that only RN’s and APRN’s can perform microneedling greater than 0.5mm depth (Medical Microneedling).  Since the PracticalCME course teaches depths greater than 0.5mm, we will continue to admit only RN’s and APRN’s in addition to PA’s, MD’s, DO’s to these courses in Arizona.

The statement also goes on to state that training for these above “Level III” procedures requires courses to be CME/CE certified.  Most trainings in Arizona are NOT CME/CE certified.  When a training company uses the word “Certification” it does NOT mean accreditation with CME/CE.  It just means you get a certificate piece of paper.

Finally, the state also clearly stated that PRP injections can also be performed by APRN’s and RN’s under proper supervision.  Therefore, we will continue to not train anyone other than a RN, APRN, PA, MD, or DO in Platelet Rich Plasma as well.
